The EU-Africa Connectivity Project, a Unilag-Jean Monnet Module Programme here at the University of Lagos is delighted to commence enrolment for its three-week summer school programme for 2023.
The successful applicants will study, discuss, research and debate with students from varied disciplines who will focus on EU and Africa studies in understanding the EU and bridging the gap between the EU and Africa. Learn from academics from the University of Lagos, University of Pavia, and Kenya as well as from business and government stakeholders and peers. Develop your research, policy writing and advocacy ability to impact positive change while tackling current issues as it concerns Europe and Africa with the outcome of your development work published.

Summer School 2023 is the first of 3 summer school programmes, 3 Mock EU parliaments, 3 research workshops and a conference all linked together over 3 years which you will be part of with other activities. It involves modules on:
Taught Modules
• History of Europe, regional integration and relations with Africa
• European Language and Culture
• European Union, Politics and Institutions
• European Economic integration
• Africa and EU Integration
Research Workshop Modules:
These will also be divided into four components
• Policy Research and Data Analysis Techniques
• Data Visualizations and Presentation Tools
• Policy Briefing, Report writing and Communication and Public speaking,

Public Speaking and Engagement Module
• Group Presentation and discussion on EU policies
• European Union Council Mock plenary session Simulation

Eligibility
It is open to students in any discipline in the University of Lagos who are at: 200 level (Year 2) in a 4-year programme or 300 level (Year 3) in a 5-year programme. However, a limited number of students from other universities will be allowed to participate in the programme. A student must be on an academic good standing and must be a registered student of the University of Lagos and or any other recognised universities in Nigeria or other African country. No applicant will be discriminated against on the basis of gender, race, religious belief, political ideology. The applicants must be at least 18 years old. The participation will be selection through a competitive selection process but special consideration for gender balancing and inclusiveness
